Today is my first segment of what I'll call "The View from my Window" , where I'll ramble on about something off topic. I'll add cool pictures and will call it a post. Enjoy!...
My desk at home sits in front of a window that faces the street. (I'm blessed to be able to work full time from home.) I feel so connected to everything when I work at my desk with a view of the neighborhood.
Today is Monday....trash pickup day. The recycling and normal trash cans are on the curbside. I had cleaned the garage over the weekend, so the normal can was quite full. An extra kitchen trash bag wouldn't fit, so it was set next to the can.

He was gone for about 10 minutes. Then, he tried again. This time, I didn't notice he was back until he had pecked the bag open. I ran out again. "Shoo!" He flew off. Noticing black olives and chicken pieces on the road, I said some colorful words, got out new bag, and double-bagged the trash. Thinking I out-smarted him, I went back to work.
Ten minutes later, he returned. He landed on the street again and slowly approached the bag, looking both ways to check if he was in the clear. I was sitting at my desk in the middle of a teleconference call, watching him approach, acting like he thinks he's not being seen. "Seriously?!" (Well, I didn't say that out loud since I was on the phone in a meeting, but I sure was yelling it in my head.) I stepped out on the porch and he flew off.
I wish I had a video camera set up for the next part. He came back again about 15 minutes later. He landed on the other side of the street. But, this time, after he landed, he turned around to face away from me and he walked backwards approaching the bag. He would take a few steps backward, pause, and look over his shoulder to check if he was clear. (I don't know if birds have actual shoulders, but you know what I mean). Then, he took a few more steps backwards, pause, and looked over his other shoulder. He continued to do this for the distance of about 40 feet! He apparently thought no one would notice that he was getting closer to the bag if he looked like he was walking forward!.....The only other explanation is he was doing the Moonwalk.
It was the weirdest thing I have seen a quite while.
What's the weirdest thing you've observed?
